Klang der Steppe, Klang der Zeit

  • Stadtbücherei Frankfurt 4 Hasengasse Frankfurt am Main, Hessen, 60311 Germany (Karte)

This program brings together music from different times, cultures, and artistic traditions, creating a dialogue that transcends geographical and historical boundaries. At its heart are new works by composers Nirmali Fenn and Neo Hülcker, presented alongside traditional Mongolian music, inviting audiences to experience diverse musical languages in conversation with one another.

The programme also features works by Pauline Oliveros and Hildegard von Bingen, whose music offers unique perspectives on listening, spirituality, and the human voice. Spanning nearly a millennium, their compositions create unexpected connections with both contemporary works and ancient musical traditions.

Together, these works form a rich tapestry of sound that explores themes of resonance, memory, ritual, and cultural exchange. Through moments of intimacy, contemplation, and discovery, Klang der Steppe, Klang der Zeit celebrates music as a shared language capable of bridging worlds while honouring the distinct voices of each tradition.

The programme features acclaimed Mongolian vocalist and musician Enkhtuya Jambaldorj, whose performances draw on the rich traditions of Mongolian folk music, bringing its distinctive vocal techniques, expressive storytelling, and cultural heritage into dialogue with the contemporary works on the program.
